This Friday at The Wounded Book Shop

I am delighted to send you this announcement that Sam Pacetti will be performing this Friday at the Wounded Bookshop.

Sam Pacetti

Friday, June 27

8:00pm

Wounded Bookshop, 109 Amelia Street, Old Town Fredericksburg

$15.00

Sam's previous performances in the Acoustic Roots Concert Series have earned him enthusiastic fans in the Fredericksburg area, and for good reason. His precise fingerpicking, performed at lightning speed, is dazzling to watch and a joy to hear. Original instrumentals showcase his virtuoso guitar skills, while his ballads sing to the heart with poetry and passion.

Sam grew up in St. Augustine, Florida. He learned flamenco from his Cuban grandfather, studied classical guitar in his early teens, was mentored by Gamble Rogers, the great Florida guitar picker and story-teller, and acquired Celtic influences in his travels. The outcome is an intriguing blend of cultures and styles.

Below are links to Sam Pacetti’s website and videos from the Kennedy Center and other venues.

“If you closed your eyes on 'Dueling Banjos,' you'd never know that this was one young man on one guitar. And that's the simple stuff." -- Terry Lagerstedt, Fairfield, CT Weekly

"In the instrumental tradition of Chet Atkins, Joe Maphis and John Fahey, Pacetti is guitaring the way it should be done. As a balladeer, he touches Fred Neil or Tim Hardin. It's rare when a performer combines the head and heart with such consummate chops." -- Arvid Smith

"Solitary Trave” marks the debut of a major talent in the world. If Kottke, Fahey, and Procter are household names where you live, consider getting familiar with Sam Pacetti's work. This young guitarist is an enormous talent. Whether playing a reel, covering Martin Simpson or dishing out a ravishing original, Pacetti is a simply astonishing guitarist..." -- Eric Fidler, AP.

June Acoustic Roots

June 7th brings a special guest to the stage at LibertyTown. Fayssoux McLean sang duets and harmony for Emmylou Harris in the early days, before retiring from professional music. Recently, she was 're-discovered' and encouraged to return to the stage. Visit her page at http://www.myspace.com/fayssouxmclean for a sampling, about which Emmylou has said:"She has one of my favorite voices..."

Tickets are on sale at LibertyTown Arts Workshop

More HAT shows

On Saturday, June 14, "House About Tonight" Productions is proud to host another house concert at Bill's Hartwood farm featuring "The Culprits."

Here is their website so you can learn a little bit about them before the show:
www.culprits.net

This is a family-friendly event as it will be outdoors; we'll be opening doors, well, the driveway, at 6pm, with the show starting at 7:30pm.  Suggested donation is $15 per adult, all of which goes to the band; young adults and children under 17 will be welcome for free with a donating adult.

Please bring a dish to share, a blanket or chairs to sit on, and join us for an upbeat evening of southern rock, country rock, and rocking country.  You can be sure there WILL be dancing on the lawn!

Please RSVP to me as soon as you can just to give me an idea of a head count!  Also, please send this notice to your mailing lists as we'd love to have a big crowd--we've got the room for it!!

See you soon under the stars!

~ Ruth, "House About Tonight" Productions
(you may RSVP via e-mail or call me at 540.846.2380)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In July, we are hosting
"World Jam Club" playing latin and Brazilian jazz, sambas, and original compositions.  Be ready to dance for this one!  Their brand-new CD will be available for sale--check them out at www.myspace.com/worldjamclub

August is Hart-Woodstock with several performers to be announced; and September will find us rocking back a couple of decades with
"The Taters" from Richmond.
