Laurie & Peter

Hi everybody,

We will be performing at the Washington Folk Festival this Sunday, June 1 in Glen Echo, MD.
The festival is held in Glen Echo Park on the grounds of an ancient amusement park - very cool space.
It's a two day event (Sat & Sun) and features dozens of folk and world acts on a dozen stages

We will be playing at:

4:15 Cuddle Up Stage
(Duo Concert)

5:15 Potomac Palisades Stage
(Guitar Workshop w/ Peter Mealy, Pete Field and Orin Star
)

Here's a link for directions and complete lineup: Washington Folk Festival

Hope you can make it

Fine Arts Commission

Congratulations to all those selected for the city's new Fine Arts Commission. I don't have all the names yet but I have found that I was not selected for the commission even though I applied. That won't change what I do here and in fact it may be better since that will avoid any conflicts of interest. The names should be made public shortly and I'll post them here as soon as I have them. I called the City Manager's office today and Beth Brown read them off to me. I just didn't get them all written down. Emily Battle has also said she would get back to me with them so they'll be here as soon as I find out.

The Commission can do terrific work to enhance the downtown experience. My suggestions to them would be to identify some fairly short term goal that is affordable and achievable in order to build momentum. The other thing would be to stay aware of and sensitive to the whole spectrum of the creative arts as it manifests in Fredericksburg.

More HAT shows

On Saturday, June 14, "House About Tonight" Productions is proud to host another house concert at Bill's Hartwood farm featuring "The Culprits."

Here is their website so you can learn a little bit about them before the show:
www.culprits.net

This is a family-friendly event as it will be outdoors; we'll be opening doors, well, the driveway, at 6pm, with the show starting at 7:30pm.  Suggested donation is $15 per adult, all of which goes to the band; young adults and children under 17 will be welcome for free with a donating adult.

Please bring a dish to share, a blanket or chairs to sit on, and join us for an upbeat evening of southern rock, country rock, and rocking country.  You can be sure there WILL be dancing on the lawn!

Please RSVP to me as soon as you can just to give me an idea of a head count!  Also, please send this notice to your mailing lists as we'd love to have a big crowd--we've got the room for it!!

See you soon under the stars!

August is Hart-Woodstock with several performers to be announced; and September will find us rocking back a couple of decades with
"The Taters" from Richmond.

Emily Barker at The Loft Saturday Night

Stuck in town this Memorial Day weekend? Lucky you! Luminaras, the Wolfe St block party (crash it - they'll never know), and my show. Well, it's not all mine. Come hang with me, Tim Garrett <http://www.myspace.com/tagarrett> , Brady Earnhart <http://www.myspace.com/bradyearnhart> , Jon Senna <http://www.myspace.com/jonsenna> , and maybe Ed Dickerson at the Loft <http://www.myspace.com/frederickstheloft> this Saturday night. We'll be playing our tunes for you "in the round."

Music starts at 9 and goes until 1230. Cover is $5 (a bargain!). So, after the barbecue, the swimming pool, the party-crashing... mosey on down. We'd love to see ya.

Bonacci work selected for...

...display in The American Juried Art Salon. Go here to see it.  You'll have to scroll down a bit. It's entitled "Shenandoah". Congrats to Lee on this recognition.

Global warming? Phoooey!

Dear Rain Guys,

What we could use around this neck of the swamp is a little global drying! More rain this morning. I'm so relieved, I didn't think that dry spell we've had for the last day was ever going to break. I woke this morning yet again to the soggy sound of dripping gutters above my windows and hissing tires on Route 1.

I bet the folks in Florida who are currently breathing smoke from the swamp fires would love some of this precip and we don't mind sharing.
