Note from Tommy Moran (RM2)

Received a neat note from Tommy Moran, our doo wop cop and former shipmate about a picture posted on the Atakapa web site which showed Moran, Ketchum and QM3 Estes with some young ladies of the United Kingdom persuasion,  and he gave me permission to publish the note here. The addition of the asterisks at the end was my idea.

You are right, that was Estes.  I looked at the pictures.  I immediately recognized Jimmy O'Brian and Billy Counce.  I didn't see anyone that I remember looking like you except a small piece of a guys face sitting accross the table from O'Brian.  Is that you?  I'm glad you posted the picture of the four of us.  It was a good one.  I was 22 years old (38 years ago) Holy Sh**!

Funny story about the girl in the photo with me. I think her name was Irene Marr.  If you recall, she was a model in London.  When I got out, I moved into my Mom's mobile home (trailer) in Florida.  I expected to hear from her, but never did.  A few months after I got out, I met my future wife and my Mom fell in love with her. She told me that Cathy was the only decent girl I ever dated.  I told her that she should have moved me out of the ghetto and maybe I would have dated nice girls (ha ha).  Anyway, in 1992 my Mom passed away.  I remember cleaning out the mobile home of her personal effects.  It was one of the toughest days of my life.  Buried under a bunch of old musty doilies, tablecloths and other camphor smelling shit, twenty-two years later, I found a stack of unopened letters from Irene.  She intercepted them but never opened them and neither did I.  I guess my Mom always knew what was best for me.

"And a great time was had by all" An Atakapa reunion with some Southern flavor.  The reunions we had in conjunction with NAFTS was good but this one was Great!
